[MOVING TOWARDS GREATER SAFETY]
ROADSCOR+ project
QUANTIFY RISKS // PREVENT CRASHES // OPTIMIZE INFRASTRUCTURE
ROADSCOR+ expands the frontier of predictive, conflict-based safety assessment by extending its reach to un-signalized intersections and preparing infrastructure for the era of automated vehicles. This evolution of the Roadscor methodology enables safety to be quantified in increasingly complex contexts: priority/yield junctions, mixed human behavior, and emerging human–AV/VRU interactions—all within a proactive Safe System framework.
Scaling the Methodology for Next-Generation Challenges
Building on the proven pillars of its predecessor—time-synchronized conflict analysis, injury-grounded severity, and country-specific costs—ROADSCOR+ provides the technical bridge to future-proof infrastructure.
- Un-signalized Junction Mastery: We model gap acceptance, priority rules, and compliance to reveal hidden risks at yield and priority-controlled intersections before implementation begins.
- AV-Readiness of Infrastructure: Using large-scale scenario coverage, ROADSCOR+ tests how layouts perform during human–AV and AV–VRU encounters, supporting the design of streets that are ready for autonomous integration.
- Advanced Safe-System SPIs: Our Safety Performance Indicators (SPIs) combine Fibonacci-weighted severity, exposure probability, and controllability to enable a like-for-like comparison of design alternatives.
- Transparent Economic Justification: By connecting simulated severity to localized, country-specific costs, we provide the evidence required for high-stakes budget justification and investment priority.
